Why I Love Being Irish

Hello there!
As you may or may not know, today is St.Patrick's Day, a national holiday in Ireland. So to mark this day where we celebrate all things Irish, I'm going to tell you why I'm very proud to call Ireland my home.

1. We Always Support our Teams
Although we aren't good at them all (Irish soccor team, I'm looking at you), we always come together to cheer on the lads (or girls!). We are well known for blaring out 'Óle Óle' or 'The Fields of Athenry' at games and getting all kitted out in the tricolour.I love how people who could otherwise despise eachother will come together to support their team and country.

2. We Have Breathtaking Scenery
Being an island with lots of greenery, it's no wonder we have such beautiful views just outside our windows (unless you live in the city that is!) There are so many beautiful places around the country from Galway bay to the Wicklow mountains, there is inspiration to be found all around us.

3. Our Nation's History is Fascinating
You may find this one boring but I think Ireland's history is just so interesting. We went through 800 years of British rule and then broke free under the leadership of so many great men and women
who gave their lives so that we could live in the peaceful country that us Irish call home. I can't think of any better reason to be a proud Irish citizen.

4. We Have The Best Amateur Sport in the World
The GAA. To many Irish, it is what they eat, sleep and breathe. Gaelic football and hurling are not only two fast paced, action pact games, but are sports that bring families, communities and counties together. I have seen people bleed, cry and jump for joy on a GAA pitch. In my opinion there is no other sport in the world with such passion involved. A footballer or hurler will give everything they have on that pitch so that they can see their team succeed. Why wouldn't you want to be involved in that?

5. Some of the Best Artists and Songs Come From our Small Country
From new artists like Hozier, Kodaline and Hudson Taylor to the classics such as U2, Sinéad O'Connor and Thin Lizzy, there is no denying that we know how to make a cracking tune (after all we have one the most Eurovision Song Contests!) There are so many influential artisits to look up to, it's no wonder we keep producing great talent. We can't forget the traditional Irish music aswell. There's nothing like a good trad group to put you in high spirits!

I hope you enjoyed this very Irish themed post. Have a great St.Patrick's Day whatever you're doing and may the luck of the Irish be with you... God all this Irish talk has gone to my head.

Adios amigos,
